An apple a day...

When I was pregnant with Lilly, I couldn't get enough apples. But only Pink Ladies--no other apple would do. I think I ate at least a hundred of the suckers.

Fast forward to this past apple harvest season...

The Pink Ladies have been gross. I've been waiting anxiously for them to take their place in the produce section, nestled in between the Galas and the Fujis. But, they haven't made much of an appearance. The couple of times I've seen them in our local grocery store, they've been featured on one of those side tables--next to where the "real" fruit is housed. I'm always a little leary when I see them this way--I'm certain they won't be as good as I remember, and they haven't been.

Until now. I went to the store last night after Ryan and Lilly had gone to bed, just to grab a few things, and there they were--in their rightful home.

I just cut one open and it is so, so perfect.

Hooray!

ps...the produce guy offered me a taste of a gooseberry the other day and um...it was gross. I'm not a fan of gooseberries. Uh-uh.

Our pink ladies have been horrible, too. What store did you get them? Safeway?

Pink lady's are my favorite. On the rare occasion that they don't deliver, I feel so ripped off!

When they are good - they are the best of all apples.

I always take a piece of fruit for my morning snack at work- a banana or orange or apple. But whenever I take an apple I get this massive headache. I have to eat something else in addition to the apple to prevent the headache. So anyway, I am not loving apples lately. That was a total random comment. I am glad you found your Pink Ladies!

This is funny b/c when I was pregnant with Avery I had an orange everday. Obsessed with oranges. I didn't know you were such an apple fan during Lilly's pregnancy. Funny.

Glad you found some pink ladies. Though I'll be honest, I don't think I've ever had a really tasty Pink Lady. They've never been my favorite so I am assuming I haven't had a GOOD one.

I love, love, love Pink Ladies and I didn't even discover them until Jon and I took our first trip to Apple Hill right outside Sacramento. Since then, they've become my fave. I just bought some big juicy organic ones from Whole Foods. Spendy, but delish.

I am a very picky apple eater also and I haven't found a good kind up here in Canada yet (no pink ladies that I have found!!)
