Things that bug me...

...AT YOUR OWN RISK

Lately, I've been reminded of a few things that really drive me nuts.

1. Locking shopping carts.

Oh. My. Gosh. Are these totally necessary? Because I've almost lost my cool a couple of times as a result of these lame things. Here I am trying to be all efficient by parking in between two of my favorite big box stores when I realize, as I'm lugging a cart full of crap, that as soon as I pass the dreaded yellow line, my cart is going to refuse to go any farther. And my car is NOT close. I can't even see it. And I have a baby. And my cart is full, remember? On more than one occasion I've had to take a second to assess my situation--how to get my kid and the contents of my cart to my car in one trip. It's usually impossible and I end up lugging Lilly and half my booty to the car while leaving my cart half-full of stuff. I mean, I have to leave the stuff since I can't very well leave Lilly sitting in the cart while I sprint to the car and back. Can I? No.

2. Stores that close during regular business hours for inventory.

I've had a couple of pillow covers that I've needed to return in the back of my car for a few weeks now. I decided that today would be the day I'd brave the mall--Mondays are a good day for the mall since it's sure to be somewhat quiet and the parking abundant. Well, wouldn't you know that Pottery Barn picks today to close their store, inside of the mall that is open, to do inventory? I just stood in front of the store's gate and stared in at the employees as they worked. I couldn't believe my luck. So, back in the car the tattered PB bag goes. I'll try again another day.

3. Water rentention.

My diet is going ok. With the exception of yesterday, I've stayed on my plan and managed to lose 10 lbs--give or take a few ounces. If I don't drink enough water, my weight goes up and my motivation takes a minor blow.

That's it for now. I'm sure there are more things that bug me, but I can't think of them at the moment.

Lilly says hi.

Wait, I've never heard of locking shopping carts. Why do they stop and do they have some sort of magnetic thing to know they aren't allowed into the parking lot? That is so weird.

I have never had a locked shopping cart- what store has them? That does sound annoying.

Every store I go to has them! It must be a Sacramento thing. What about a newer grocery store in your area--it seems to be all the newer stores that are getting them. Bugs.

Oh no, we have locking shopping carts here in Denver too. They suck.

Congrats on the 10 lb. loss!! Will you post about what you've been doing? You know, inspiration for the rest of us schucks?

they don't have locking shopping carts here, either but you do have to pay for your shopping carts in most places - like a deposit that you get back when you put it back in the stall.

all those things are annoying. and running errands is so much harder when you are lugging a baby in a car seat that seems like it weighs a TON.
