Labor Daying...

We went up to Redding for the holiday weekend. Well, half of it at least. Our main purpose was to head on up to Whiskeytown Lake. I have many, many fun memories of days at the lake. When we were young, my parents would take us to Brandy Creek, and the occasional ward activity was held there too. and when we were in high school, we'd hike down from the side of road to more secluded spots and spend hours floating on our rafts and (probably) gossiping about all there is to gossip about when you are 17 years old. Good times.

I wanted to take the kids to Brandy Creek--the beach is perfect for their age and swimming abilities. We took a picnic and had the perfect afternoon. I can't wait to take them back next summer when they'll play all day and not get grumpy for a nap.

Ryan and Shannon stroked it out to the dock--it's a different, newer dock from when I was growing up, but still.

Such a Redding thing to do, this was.

Just as we were leaving for the day, Ranger Bobby waded in for his water safety class.

Love, loving Shannon's dark hair! So pretty.

Why haven't I heard you talk of this place? It looks and sounds awesome. Is the water cold?

Miss--the water isn't cold at all. It's crazy that we don't go up there more often. Next summer for sure. If we only had a boat...

It looks really good out there. Glad to see it so well kept.

But it looks empty, right? Where was everyone, especially on a holiday weekend?

I liked Dog Beach, myself. Or that little inlet next to the bridge. Fun memories packing friends into the teal Protege and headed to the lake with Sublime on the stereo and Sunset market sandwiches!

Let's rent a boat! Or sea doos at least. Take some boogie boards and pull the kids along the shore. Let's plan it.
