A few weeks ago, when we were up at my parents' house, we went to this awesome butterfly exhibit at
Turtle Bay. It was right out of
Fancy Nancy Bonjour Butterfly! It really was one of the coolest things I've ever done. There were hundreds of butterflies flitting around--and as much as we tried not to touch them, we might have broken the rules. They were so willing to sit on our fingers--I'm so sure!
We learned some pretty fascinating things about butterflies that day. Did you know that they only live for a month or so? All that beauty and it's only around for a few weeks? I was bummed out by this fact. And even more bummed to hear that all day long, the exhibit volunteers have to make sure to pick up the dead butterflies--their month was up.
Dead or not, they are beautiful, and I loved watching Lilly and Caleb in awe of them. It was a pretty cool thing.

This is a box of the dead butterflies that had been collected over the course of a few days...

He's so grown-up all of the sudden. Still not walking, but close.

They are huddled around an orange slice. Who knew they liked oranges?

Nana.

Wow, the butterflies are so spectacular even when they're dead. Sounds like a magical exhibit for your little ones.
Are only the orange butterflies digging the orange slice? Love that photo.
What? Did you get a macro lens or something? these pictures are incredible.
I'm dying at Lilly's expression next to your mom. I had to pause because it reminded me so much of Avery. Those two girls..
And the series of Cal + butterfly made me laugh.
