The History of Love...

Like some of my blogging friends who have already posted about it, I LOVED this book. It is a smart love story--my favorite kind. I found myself wanting to read it all the time, but with a three month old baby around, I was contained to reading before bed. It hurt to have to look at the book all day and not be able to curl up on the sofa and finish it. However, I did finish it, and it was glorious.

It's not my favorite book of all-time, but I did really enjoy it.

Like Kathryn, I too want to post one of my favorite excerpts:

There was a time when it wasn't uncommon to use a piece of string to guide words that otherwise might falter on the way to their destinations. Shy people carried a little bundle of string in their pockets, but people considered loudmouths had no less need for it, since those used to being overhead by everyone were often at a loss for how to make themselves heard by someone. The physical distance between two people using a string was often small; sometimes the smaller the distance, the greater the need for string.

Anyway, I really enjoyed the book.

I'm going to read Twilight next. Juice told me he read it in one sitting, Heidi said she liked it, and I had a couple of students who were obsessed with it. I figure any book that can get a high school girl who has never finished a book excited, is one I need to check out.

I like History of Love a lot too. GOod book.

Even with a newborn you may be able to read this book super fast, it seems to be the case with most who read it. I would suggest getting the sequel because you will probably want to read it as soon as you are done.

I'm glad you liked History of Love. I read it last year and loved her writing style. I'd like to check out her other book - Man Walks Into a Room, i think it's called...

I actually just finished Twilight - just to warn you, it may be a little disappointing after reading a good romance. I read Pride and Prejudice right before and ended up not liking Twilight as much as everyone else seems to. Let me know what YOU think!
