Ryan and I went to the Snow Patrol concert in San Francisco last night. I read up about concerts and pregnancy and as long as I'm not a roadie or anything, the occasional concert is fine. Lilly went crazy the entire time. I think I shocked her. Here in Sacramento, things are pretty quiet--her and I don't deal with too much noise pollution. The birds chirping outside or the occasional argument in Punjabi from our downstairs neighbors--nothing too crazy. Last night wasn't out of control loud, but it was definitely the loudest place I've been while pregnant. And, being so far along, Lilly can hear what I hear, although muffled, so I'm thinking all her moving around was a sign she liked the music.
The concert was fun. I forget how much I like hearing my favorite bands live. I discovered Snow Patrol way back in 2003 when I was in London. My London sidekick, Danna, dragged me to all kinds of concerts while we were there and opened my eyes to some great new bands. Towards the end of our stay there, we were all feeling very confident as city dwellers and I don't know about everyone else, but I was enjoying the occasional alone time. Since Danna's boyfriend had come to visit her and they had left for Venice for a few days, I ventured out to a concert or two on my own. One of those solitary trips was a concert featuring Granddaddy (an American band) with Snow Patrol as the opening act. I remember standing there listening to the opening act, having never heard of Snow Patrol, and thinking how much I liked their music. I have no idea why I went to see an American band perform in London, but I'm glad I did because I found Snow Patrol.
I came home and told everyone about them. They had one album and it wasn't available in the States. It must have been a year later that the buzz about them started. Then the album became available. Then they had a hit on the U.S. charts. The rest is history. Crazy how that works. I'm glad I was there to see them in the beginning. It was great to see them playing for a huge crowd, in a U.S. city, who had all come to see them as the headlining band.
We didn't make it to the Josh Radin concert earlier this week. The weather was horrible and I wasn't feeling the drive to the city. Maybe next time.
I'd like to see Muse again and the Killers, since they are both headed our way in the next few weeks, but I think we'll have bigger things to deal with and a rock concert probably isn't in the cards for us for a few months.

Ah, memories of Jen and Danna, the Olsen twins. Sounds like you "three" had a good time at the concert, I didn't know you discovered them when we were in London
