Before I post about my pregnancy, let me say that I'm watching American Idol right now. I've NEVER watched American Idol at this stage in the competition. I can never figure out what night it's on or when or where they are in the elimination process. However, tonight as I was flipping channels I saw that I had already seen the re-run of CSI:Las Vegas (my favorite show), so I settled on American Idol. To make a long story short, I don't like watching American Idol. I can't really explain why--it just bugs me for some reason. Tonight reaffirmed that for me.
I'm excited about the new game show that is on after American Idol. I foget the name of it--something about being smarter than a 5th grader-- it has adults going against 5th graders in a quiz show format. I love the idea of 5th graders knowing more about certain subjects than adults. Jeff Foxworthy is hosting.
I went to my 36 week appointment today. I'm 80% effaced and a half-inch dilated. My doctor mentioned twice that "it's a good size baby." I told Ryan this and he, of course, is convinced that means we are having a fat baby and proceeded to blame me and my eating habits (too much sugar) for our baby's size. (He accused me in a playful way) I don't think my doctor was insinuating that our baby is going to be fat or overweight. I think she was simply letting me know that she's a healthy size.
My due date is March 29th, but I don't think I'll make it that long. I'm confident Lilly will either want out sooner or I'll have a break down from being pregnant for too long. Either way, I'm betting she arrives earlier than the expected date.
Last night I watched a fascinating, and at the same time, a very disturbing documentary. Jesus Camp documents an Evangelical Christian minister and the children she preaches to. Without getting into the rights or wrongs of religions, it didn't seem ok to me--they way these kids were acting. Ryan was up working while I was watching it and I kept telling him that I couldn't believe what I was watching. I didn't, and I still don't, know what to say about the film. The film does a good job of showing how the political and religious foundations of our country are starting to intertwine--making the separation of church and state impossible. If you ask me, it's freaky stuff.

March is a good month to have a baby. April would be even better though (that's when I was born).
I watched that smarter than a fifth grader show. I love trivia shows.
Yeah!! You're dilated now! That is great news. I think she'll come early too. I'm counting on Mid-March.
What you eat during pregnancy has absolutely nothing to do with how much your baby weighs. I think it's all genetics. It's fun to have a fat baby. I love the little rolls.
Your dilated already? Great news! I was a 1 at my 36 weeks and Avery came almost two weeks early so I'm guessing mid-March too. March 14th.
evangelicals and mormons and every other religion that attracts a fanatical fringe community is absolutely, without doubt, terrifying.
anybody who says they're right, or they know, or they have the truth---they're ignoring the simple fact that by blabbing the way they do, they're saying, whether they like or not, that everyone is wrong.
And that's what makes my blood boil.
I've always wanted someone to make a bumper sticker that simply says: "You Don't Know."
Brad has a good institute story about this issue. It made his blood boil too..mine as well. Mormons claiming there is one truth and one only. It's pretty sad.
I was told by the mid-wives that I would have a good-size baby. It increased my nerves for delivery, but they did comfort me by saying bigger babies are oftentimes easier and more content. I really think it's just down to each individual baby, but it comforted me a little!
I think March/April are good months to have a baby too.
Fanatical religious groups can be really disturbing (no matter the religion...and they are in every religion). I often wonder if someone is conscious they are in fact a crazy fanatic.
Bigger babies actually sleep better. Or so I've heard.
I'm with you on American Idol...I don't like watching it because the people I think are crappy always do well. CSI Las Vegas is my favorite show, also. I love the 2 hour block of reruns that goes on right when I get home from work.
I hope that Lilly comes sooner then later for you - maybe then you will get some more sleep (wishful thinking, right?)
Ryan: Where did your comment come from? What does that have to do with Jen dilating and nine months pregnant.
nevermind Ry, I just re read the post and realized Jen also wrote about that show. sorry.
People always think their baby's will come early. Maybe yours will. I'll keep my fingers crossed. But I'm voting for March 30th since my sister, mother and nephew all share that birthday. Good luck and happy delivery.
