Man oh man, what a week. I'm so glad it's Friday. My eyes are burning so bad right now that it feels like they are on fire. I guess dry eyes are a symptom of pregnancy. Is there anything that isn't?

Let's talk about the night sweats I've been having lately, shall we? Ok. They are awful. I wake up at least twice a night, shivering and drenched in cold sweat. It's the worst. I'm not getting great sleep as a result and it's really taking it's toll around 3:30 pm when I should be grading papers. Lame.

I'm getting puffier. This is funny since at my last Dr.'s appt. the Dr. said I had only gained one pound. Um...impossible. Simply impossible. There is no way that I have only gained one pound in the last 5 months. Any idiot can tell that just by looking at me. Now, I'm not calling my Dr. an idiot, but come on. When you are walking around in your "fat" jeans and they are unbuttoned AND unzipped all the way, there is no possible way that you have only gained one pound. I'm just saying.

Our last Dr.'s appointment was stressful--to say the least. First of all, no one in the office told me that they refer all their OB patients to a DIFFERENT office for a 20 week ultrasound--the ultrasound that reveals the baby's sex. Yeah, no one told me that. So, when they told me at my last appointment that I could find out the sex "next month," I assumed they were talking about this appointment we just had on Tuesday. They weren't. Instead, they thought I understood the process. I was a mess. Partly because Ryan's mom had come up from Orange County just for the ultrasound. And also because I was really looking forward to knowing sex. So, after a total breakdown in the exam room and in front of my Dr., she offered to do an ultrasound in her office. I guess their technology isn't as updated as they would prefer for fetal assessments (determining sex and other issues) so that's why they refer their patients out for a 20 week ultrasound.

Fine. I get it now.

It's not like I've EVER DONE THIS BEFORE!!

Dr. Beatty tried her hardest to get the baby to cooperate so she could see between the legs, but baby wasn't having it. It was just as stressed out as I was apparently and was all coiled up. We did get to see a very healthy spine and all four limbs. That was enough for me. Oh, and the heartbeat--that was a relief too.

So, we go to the fancy place on November 7th to find out the sex. The same day that Ryan is heading for AFRICA. That'll be cool.

I'm off to grade a bunch of midterm essays. Fun.
