(Four hours in...I didn't leave Lilly like this, fyi.)
We picked Lilly up from preschool--her first day of no crying at drop off. She usually starts whining about not wanting to go from the second we pull in to the parking lot, and then she stands outside the door until I pick her up and take her to Miss Ruthie for the hand off. She does fine once I leave, but drop off has been a nightmare.
Until yesterday.
She walked right in, washed her hands, walked out to the playground, found Miss Carmen who was taking temperatures, and then headed over to play with Sophia. I was shocked. Miss Carmen, Miss Patricia, and Miss Ruthie were shocked...and then they told me to run for it!
We went to the pediatrician's office straight from preschool. Where we stayed for the next six hours. Caleb was such a trooper. He had blood drawn, was poked on the finger for a diabetes test, had a tube put up his peep to try and get some urine--all for not, he was dry. Finally, they put a catheter in him and sent us to the drugstore to pick up the anti-vomit meds. We were at the pharmacy for over an hour. Lilly was starting to lose it about now, so after she tried to play dress-up with some Dr. Scholl's shoe things (which I ended up having to pay for), I took them out the car to watch a movie and wait for our drugs.
They were both alseep in two seconds. I called Mindy to see if she could come get Lilly on her way home from work. We had been at it for over four hours by this time. Mindy came! Thank goodness for friends! Caleb and went back in for more blood work to have his urine bag checked. Still no urine. I had been forcing pedialyte down him since our stay at Rite-Aid. It was one of those trips where I pretended Rite-Aid was my kitchen--I just went around the store collecting whatever I needed, prepared Caleb's drink, and then went and presented the cashier with all the wrappers of the opened products I had collected.
Around 6pm, they sent us home with instructions for collecting the urine sample. Of course, as soon as he got home, he had a major blowout and I got to dig his urine sample bag out of that. Fun.
Overall, it wasn't the worst day. Caleb was so sweet and all he wanted to do was have me hold him and put his head on my shoulder. Ryan said that every time he went in to check on him last night, he would say, "Mama." And Lilly! She was so good...right up until she couldn't take it anymore. I'm so proud of her.
Ryan landed at 7pm last night--just in time. We are taking it easy today...Caleb is asleep and Ryan has Lilly out on an errand.
Like Lilly said this morning, "We are a family again."

Ah Jen, this is no good, and when one of the parents is out of town, even harder. Such a sweet Caleb asking for his Mama all night. I hope he is on the up and up very very soon.
Poor Caleb. He's such a sweet boy, I hate how he is suffering like this. I hope he feels better soon.
I love that picture. They are WIPED OUT.
I hope it's nothing too serious. What sweethearts!!!
I know this wasn't meant to be funny, but I lost it over Lilly playing dress up with the Dr. School's shoe things and you having to pay for them.
Yikes, I hope Caleb is doing better. I didn't realize Ryan was out of town for all that until the end of your post - ugh!!! As sad as it is when the kids are sick, it is also so sweet to have them want to be held and snuggle and be so, so calm.
