Feast or famine...

(Selfie)

I got hit with a nasty cold when I got home from Chicago last week. I barely made it to Friday and since Ryan is on a business trip, my mom took my kids--again. I would be lost without my parents--they are the best. I stayed in bed most of Saturday--something I haven't done in a really long time. Maybe since I was a teenager? At the end of the day, my bedroom was a disaster. Dishes, magazines, messy bed, blinds closed, tissues strewn about. I woke up yesterday feeling much better and cleaned my house from top to bottom.

I met my parents for the kid switch and had them in their beds by 9:30pm.

Caleb woke up an hour later. Covered in vomit.

Sigh.

And so it went all night, every two hours. I felt so bad for him. He could barely hold his head up by the third round of sickness. And I was running out of stand-in blankies for him. I think throw-up is one of my least favorite parts of motherhood. The first thing I thought of when I stepped into his room and smelled the evidence before I turned on the light, was my newly cleaned house. Figures.

He's asleep now--he's running a fever and generally uncomfortable, I think. He just wants to sit and have me hold him. I love him so much and hate that he's sick. I wish I could lounge in bed with him all day. Lilly is NOT sick and so she wants to do more than lounge. She's very concerned with Caleb though and keeps asking how "her little boy" is doing. So cute.

It really is feast or famine around here. Some days, we've got nothing. Other days, there is puke, loads and loads of laundry, grocery shopping needing to be done, insurance companies to call. My goal today is to make sure Caleb is loved. Lilly too!

I think I smell throw-up on me somewhere...

I still need to write about all the fun things Ryan and I did in Chicago.

It's so hot here. Like 100 degrees hot. What?!? I'm over it.

Oh man, SAME THING happened to me. Housekeeper came on friday. I know poor me, but I had twin infants out all day which isn't easy. By midnight friday, PUKE everywhere. Laundry up to my ceiling and every bathroom needs cleaning. Boooooooo!

Hope you're all on the mend soon! Oh and I love Chicago - can't wait for your report when you're all fully functioning.
