It's Thursday. The kids and I are on the home stretch into the weekend and Ryan's return! Did I mention he was also in Chicago this week? I love that city so much. Next time, I'm going with him.
We've had a good week. I got some cleaning done, we had a few play dates, spent a lot of time outside in our, dare I say, Fall-like weather. It's supposed to warm up again over the next few days, but you can definitely feel Fall in the air. The sunlight feels less bright, more saturated. The middle school across the street started this morning, and the gym is eerily quiet in the mornings without the day camp kids running all around. I love this time of year, but I'm always a little bit sad that the school year is starting without me being a part of it. Maybe next year.
Lilly starts preschool on Tuesday. What?!!? When did she get so old? As I type this she is strutting around in my leopard print stilettos. She calls them the "kitty shoes." Sometimes I stare at her and can't believe how much of a person she is. Weird. I wish she wasn't so obsessed with Scooby Doo though--I'm over it and Caleb would rather watch Mickey.
I spent two hours cleaning my kitchen yesterday afternoon. This morning, when I was already running late to get out of the house, I dropped an unopened bottle of salsa on my newly mopped floor. I cursed. Do these things only happen to me? I think so sometimes. Not two seconds later, I spilled pear juice all down my shirt. I don't get dressed in normal clothes very often, so this was especially annoying.
I'm reading Anthropology of an American Girl. It's great.

and yes, those things happen to me too. and yes, i sometimes curse. and then i have to explain to izzy that what i actually said was.... insert fake word.
happy weekend, jen!
Chicago is only five hours from me ;-). I hope to visit often over the next five years (i only have been once when I was 14 but I loved it- does that count?). Does his work ever take him to the twin cities? If it does you need to come with him.
Can you send some of that fall weather to me? My new Nordstrom Sale clothes have me craving my favorite season but it is miserable and humid here.
That fall air is totally around here too. My neighbor at the pool laughed at me when I said it, but it is here. It's a chill or something in the breeze. Or smell. Whatever it is, fall is happening soon.
I love this picture too.
Very cool picture.
