4th of July

Ok. I'm going to post about our trip in themes. For instance, this first post will be all 4th of July. I'm hoping to have a few posts--one about Cal's walking, a general boardwalk post, and maybe a beach post or two. That's the plan.

By the 4th of July, we had already been at the beach house for a week. Like the seven (awesome) days before it, we spent it on the beach. But first, we headed down to Rehoboth to cheer Juice on in the swim/run biathlon. It was fun to have someone out there to cheer on and he did a great job racing against all those young lifeguards.

Later, he headed back down the beach to Cullen Ave. (our beach street entrance) and spent the day on the beach. After naps, showers, and dinner, we headed back down for the fireworks. It was pretty cool to watch them on the sand. And it was fun to walk down Cullen while all the families were coming out of their houses to head down too. When you set-up beach camp in the same general area everyday, you get to know and recognize people. We meet families from New York, New Jersey, and Florida this year. One of the little boys that Caleb befriended was named Bolton, but Lilly kept calling him Bullseye. And she wasn't trying to be funny. It was awesome. We also spent a few hours listening to some pretty intense conversation between a dude and his grandparents. Dude was 19 years old and missing a few marbles. But, he has been with Haley since he was 14 and if he didn't have her, he would commit suicide. Whenever we saw dude after that, we called him Suicide. We learned a lot about Suicide over the course of his beach vacay, mostly because he yelled everything he said. He lost his job because the company went bankrupt, NOT because he was fired. And he was the assistant manager, ok? Grandma and Grandpa DON'T like Haley and they really want Suicide to get an apartment. We learned much, much more about him, but you get the idea.

Fireworks were cool. We weren't up at Rehoboth where they were setting them off, so we weren't right under them, but it was still cool to be out there with so many people. The kids were asleep in their stroller/backpack before we got to the end of the street.

I love this photo. You can barely make out how excited he is and how he's clutching his blankie.

It was a fun trip. I especially loved watching fireworks on the beach. I loved everything about it, the people, the ocean, the vibe. It was a total trip. Way better than gross Redding Convention Center.

We have gone on this vacation so many times, but it never gets old. Glad I was able to come this year.

Love you guys.
