Fish are friends...not food...

Well, I might be a murderer. A fish murderer. I've now killed four goldfish in the last year and a half. The first two were from the ping-pong toss into the goldfish bowl game at the State Fair last summer. I thought they would only last a few days, but I was wrong. They wouldn't die. And I got so very tired of cleaning out the bowl. So, I just flushed them one day. Lilly never noticed.

These last two...well, their deaths were an accident. In an attempt to clean their bowl earlier this week, I tried to pour them out into a smaller bowl.

Over the sink.

Do you know where this is headed?

The first one went so fast I stood there for a second in shock. There was a goldfish in my garbage disposal. Well, at least there would be as soon as I decided to flip the switch. I didn't know what else to do! I was not going to stick my hand down the sink drain to get it! I quickly turned on the disposal and threw a lemon in to chase it.

And then I went back to the (now) lone fish. I still needed to clean the bowl. I started to pour out the water, assuming I wouldn't make the same mistake again and he would end up in the smaller bowl.

Um....

Second fish has also landed in the disposal.

I said, "Shit."

And then I turned the disposal on, threw in another lemon, and put the fish bowl in the dishwasher.

No more fish for us.

ok - it might be mean that i'm a cruel person, but I found myself laughing at this... i mean, those poor fish...

best part is that you do the exact same thing twice - and chased them both with a lemon... hilarious.

We had fish when I was little. Well, my brother did. He put them in the toilet when he was cleaning the bowl. I ran in & had to pee (I was little, like I said). He couldn't stop me before it was too late & I had flushed.

The fish swam back up! It was sort of a fish miracle.

So then I did it again, because it was clearly a gifted fish & I wanted to see it again.

It didn't swim back up, & my brother was very mad.

I sympathize. Good move with the lemons, by the way.

Our fish bowl sits dirty until Devin cleans it b/c I don't want that chore.

But, Kathryn's fish swam back up?!!?

Oh man! I cannot stop laughing! I'm sitting in my little cube reading this, laughing so hard there are tears in my eyes. I love you Jen. You make me smile.

Mike put our fish in the "lake" behind us. I'm sure they were eaten by much larger mutant fish within seconds.
