Growing up, Rodeo Week was a big deal. Huge. There was the pancake breakfast on Friday, the bank heist earlier in the week, the hunt for the cash, the parade on Saturday morning, and then the actual rodeos, of course. I usually skipped those.
But. I did love the parade. It seemed so "big" to me. My grandpa would set-up our special spot super early in the morning and the entire family knew where we'd be come parade time.
I've been excited to take my kids one day. This was the year--we headed up a few weekends ago to kick it at the big parade.
I had my dad make sure we got our special spot...gotta keep things the same, you know?
Lilly and Cal loved it. Ryan...not so much. It wasn't quite as grandiose as I remember it, but it was still fun to be there with my kids.

Awesome pics, Jen! Love the goats!!!
It was such a fun morning. I really missed Grandma that day. It just wasn't the same without her sitting in her lawn chair in her jean shorts and white Keds. Maybe next year I'll wear a pair as a tribute to her!
I love this. For many reasons. 1.) Cal with the flag? He's so happy he can hardly contain himself 2.) Lilly clapping, with the face of "That was nice." Classic Lilly. 3.) Looks like the goats killed it this year. 4.) Ry - you are a true champ when you can sit through the Redding Rodeo Parade without wanting to escape to the car after 5 min. Well done.
Looking at cal's face in that picture tells me that maybe we should be finding parades to visit every weekend. Could he be happier?
It wasn't so bad. But it wasn't exactly the coto de caza 4th of july parade, that's for sure.
Next year: we're getting in the parade with bongo drums and wagons.
coto de caza 4th of july parade. yeah ry, it doesn't quite look the same!
I like this. Taking your kids to small town where you grew up. Maybe I'm obsessing over living somewhere like Dillon, Texas...but I think Lilly and Cal know it too.
