Just some stuff...

It's Saturday afternoon and I'm sitting here watching my 21 month old daughter and my husband play Rock Band. It's pretty funny. Lilly is all over the drums. Until she decides she wants to play the guitar, and then she's all about that. But only until she decides she wants the drum sticks back 30 seconds later. And so it goes.

We are heading to a friend's Christmas party tonight. It's tamale themed. I couldn't be happier about building my own tamales and spending the evening with good friends. Kids are more than welcome, so we are taking Lilly and she'll get to hang out with a lot of her gym friends.

Not sure what we are up to tomorrow. It was supposed to pour rain here all weekend, but so far, I see no chance of that happening. The skies are cloudless and it's 70 degrees outside. Ryan's happy though, it means lots of golf for him.

I'm including a photo of my latest framing project. I found this fun canvas last year on Pottery Barn's website for uber cheap and thought it would look cool somewhere in my house. It's sort of floating around until I find a good spot for it. Right now it's leaning up against the wall on the stair landing.

(playing Rock Band with the cousins last weekend)

As I was making dinner last night, I could hear Lilly struggling with something over in the vicinity of the Christmas tree. The cats like to hang out over there, so I assumed she was trying to wrestle one of them down. Soon, her pleas were getting frantic and she started saying, "Stuck, I'm stuck." I peeked around the corner and saw that she was indeed stuck--she had managed to get herself all tangled up in the lights. It was pretty funny.

My tree is so, so sad. I've only managed to keep lights and ornaments on the top third of the tree--Lilly and said cats have destroyed the bottom two thirds. I tried to keep up appearances the first few days, but then I gave up. I'm guessing it will be years until I can have an untouched tree around.

1. I really like the poster. Why not hang it where it's at (the stair landing wall)?

2. Lilly playing Rock band is hilarious and I love her stuck in the lights.

3. All I ever really care about a Christmas tree is that is gives off the dreamy glow in the evening and yours is still accomplishing that, so its all good.

Jen, I just had lunch with your mom on Friday, and I told her how sad our tree is since the ornaments are all on the top. Emily tugs on the lights as well.

I'm obsessed with your house and I haven't even seen it in person (sad). That blown up photo of Lilly along with your art piece and now this canvas? LOVE.

Can't wait to hear Lilly talk in person!

Trust me when I say that you should cherish the years of the less than perfect tree. Do you remember the year we spents hours stringing cranberries and popcorn only to have one short, sad little garland on the tree?
