It's getting crazy up in here...

When your husband works in politics and it's a campaign year, things can get a bit hairy. Now that we are only 41 days away from November 4th, it's getting all kinds of hectic. Ryan is up and out of the house at 4am most days (he does this even without an election on the horizon...) and he's often not home until prime time t.v. is in full swing.

He's the hardest worker I know.

This morning he told me that while he was trying to fall asleep last night he had a panic attack. But then he started thinking about video games and Paris Hilton (?) and it went away.

Ok.

This last weekend he was the best. He got up with Lilly BOTH mornings and let me sleep in. He took her to the park multiple times and on many bike rides. He also stayed home with her for a few hours on Saturday so that I could go to the mall with my sister and run a few other errands. He basically took Lilly on by himself for most of the weekend. And Lilly loved every second of it. So much so that she threw a monumental fit when it was time for him to leave for work on Monday morning. He doesn't do so well when she freaks out. He likes her to be happy at all times and while I do too, I realize that she's an opinionated toddler and she can't always have her way. I'm much better at strong- arming her into her car seat when her back is arched and she's playing Animal Kingdom. I'm also much better at letting her writhe on the floor after she's been denied a second bag of Nemo fruit snacks. I mean, she just can't have it all--someone has to be the bad guy.

That photo is great. They do look a lot alike, except she is so blonde. How cute that he just took her on bike rides...I love seeing dads out with their kids.

Did you know you'd be the bad guy before you guys even had kids, or did you think Ryan would be a disciplinarian? I don't think I saw it coming just how much of a softie he would be. I wonder if girls are different though. Jon doesn't think he'd be so mushy with a little boy. Enter the psychological issues our little boy is going to have when he realizes Dad is nicer to his big sister.
