So, I decided to install it myself.
I was convinced that it was totally unnecessary to hire someone to put this thing in. I KNEW I was capable of doing it myself.
I'll admit, it took me a lot longer than I had anticipated. Like an entire day. BUT, it's up! I did it all by myself. I connected wires, screwed the fixture to the Jbox (that's electrician lingo--you wouldn't understand) AND, I even cut the extra wiring off! I put the shade on it today and so I'll post some final photos later.

So how did you know what to do? Did you google some electrician how to's on the web or what? I am very impressed.
You are so good at house projects Jen! I'm so excited to see the finished product.
It looks even better finisheed.
Jen... that one thing about the ceiling plate, that's my only comment.
God help us in Minneapolis.
Jen! I'm so impressed. That is so awesome. I need to learn from you because Joses doesn't like to do home improvement stuff much either.
You get your "handy-girl" qualities from me - Lord knows your dad doesn't have a clue. Home improvement to Michael G. means having plenty of Orville Redenbachers extra butter popcorn in the cupboard!!!
Great job, Jen!!
you are amazing. I love doing things like that because now every time you look at it you are reminded of how smart you are :)
how did your apple pie turn out? and maybe you should share the recipe (if it isn't a family secret, of course). I'm always looking for the best apple pie recipe!
Okay, I'm really impressed. Fixing anything is just not my thing.
