Halloween...

We went down to Orange County for some family fun this past weekend. We had a great Halloween with all the kids. I had wanted to dress Lilly up as a cupcake, but as it got closer to Halloween, I started to realize that I may have set my sights too high. So, I put her in a tutu and some leggings and called it good. Ryan dubbed her a fairy from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. She was a Sprite--a little creature who lives in the woods and who will fool you with her trickery. How's that for a creative costume?

We spent Thursday at Disneyland, Friday getting our first family picture (me, Ry, and Lilly), and Saturday playing in the park with everyone. Whenever we visit Ryan's siblings, we always lament the fact that we don't live closer. But then we think about a few things...

1. Southern California cost of living.

2. Southern California wildfires.

3. Southern California traffic.

Those three things are enough to jolt us back into reality and remind us that we have a pretty nice thing going on up here in Sacramento. Of course, we do live in California's largest flood plane but whatever.

I played whiffle ball this past weekend--something I don't think I've done since 8th grade...I think it was 8th grade. I don't know, I've blocked most of junior high out of my memory. It took me a while, but I finally got the feel of the bat and managed to make contact with the ball. I think I might have rallied my team back from behind, but I can't remember. We lost track of the score after the temperature dropped below 70 degrees. That's cold down there in those parts.

This is the best photo we could get of all of them.
We tried. Really, really hard.
