It's that time of year...

We are headed to the California State Fair tonight. One perk of living in Sacramento is the fact that the biggest state in the United States (population wise, of course) has its fair right here in our backyard. We look forward to it every year.

If only for the fried food and the corn on the cob.

And the farm animals.

I'm from Shasta County...you can't expect me to not be interested in the livestock. They are judging the steers tonight--should be a good show. Do you even know how much money those FFA kids get if they sell their animal? A LOT, that's how much. A LOT. Last year, we were talking to this boy who was somewhere around 15 years old or so, and had raised this gigantic cow, or bull, or whatever, and it had won THE blue ribbon. He sold it for more than Ryan makes in 3 months. One cow=a lot of cash.

Maybe I should consider raising a pig, or a goat, or maybe even a cow. The money would be nice.

Anyway, ever since we got married, had kids, etc., we don't see as much of our friends as we'd like. Everyone is busy. People have lives, jobs, they move to Manteca? And so, the fair is our annual make-it-happen night. We will scale tall buildings to be together for our annual fair night.

I think I mentioned before that I was three months pregnant last year and so totally grossed out by all things having to do with food. I didn't eat one deliciously fried thing. Not even corn on the cob. So, I have to make up for last year.

Please point me in the direction of the egg rolls-on-a-stick!

I don't know why but you guys don't seem like fair people to me. Yet you are. Good times. Hopefully you will enjoy the food this year!

Yeah. I am a fair lover too. I am gearing up for the Texas State Fair here in September which I heard is crazy. They were the creators of fried coke last year. Luckily I'm far enough along in my pregnancy to enjoy all the fried delicacies a fair has to offer.
