Can I get a graduate degree in multitasking?

Because I'm getting really good at it. I'm also getting really good at the logistics of a regular day around here. I'm trying to be productive and avoid making gigantic messes in the process, hence the multitasking.

For instance, getting ready to go to the gym in the mornings has become second nature. First, I feed Lilly when she wakes up around 7am. Then, while she's being entertained on her play mat, I brush my teeth and put my hair up. This is usually when I run downstairs and get something to eat too. Next, I go back upstairs and get my work out gear together and then I throw it all downstairs from the second floor--there's no point in walking it down. I also throw down all of Lilly's accoutrement for the day, like diapers and a few extra change of clothes. Once everything has been tossed downstairs and I'm sure we are done upstairs, we head on down. Oh, I forgot to say that I made the bed while we were up there too.

So, now we are downstairs. I usually have a few dishes to do and a mess from my breakfast that I need to clean up. I pack the diaper bag, change into my gym clothes, and also pack my gym bag. I've started to shower at the gym lately. I figure that if I'm taking Lilly in to childcare and she's somewhere that I trust that ALSO happens to have shower facilities, I might as well get my day started right. A shower is a nice way to fend off the possibility of not showering all day and as a result, feeling like a frumpy new mom. I don't need that.

I had to go to IKEA today. Oh what a pain in the a** that was. I only buy things from the marketplace these days. Ryan and I decided that neither one of us wants to ever put another piece of furniture together IN OUR LIVES. So, we are graduating to "adult" furniture and only buying quality pieces. But, I do still like to wander around the marketplace at IKEA--there's always a picture frame or plant I like.

We are home now. It's hot outside. I need to finish my book. I need to vacuum. I need to watch Friday's tivo'd Oprah.

The series finale of The Sopranos was so lame.

The Sopranos finale was SO lame. I thought our cable went out. I was freaking out trying to "fix" it.
Lilly is cute.

You sound good Jen. Busy morning, but at least it starts out right. Food, workout, shower. Sounds similar to mine, actually.

Love that photo.

That is nice to have someone to watch Lilly while you workout and shower. I would love to start out everyday like that. I am also scared to become a frumpy mom (once I have kids). I don't think it would be possible for you, you are too stylish.

Heidi...you are too kind. But, if were here to see me most days, you'd see that I can indeed have frumpy days.

You didn't BUY anything at IKEA on that trip did you??????

Oh, I hate that frumpy feeling. So gross. Props to you for making a routine out of going to the gym, showering, and throwing all your upstairs stuff downstairs so you're not going up and down all day. Maybe I should give that a try...

GORGEOUS photo, seriously, best I've seen in a few weeks. I love Ikea. I have to keep myself from getting off the freeway exit every time I pass it. Don't mind me, I'm just surfing blogs.
