This is getting ridiculous. Why does no one tell you about the last two weeks?

It's all I'm going to tell people about when this is all over. Forget the first six weeks--I'd do that over before I ever did the last two weeks over.

Dr.'s visit was more of the same. I'm still only dilated one inch, but I'm almost fully effaced. My blood pressure was still high, so she sent me over to Labor and Delivery for more monitoring. Instead of going to the antepartum testing room where I went last time, I was sent to an actual L&D room. I was hooked up to monitors and they took more blood and urine samples. Everything came back fine there, but my blood pressure is still running high.

To make a long story short, it was a full afternoon of waiting around. Ryan and I were secretly hoping my blood pressure would go really berserk every time the cuff would automatically start to tighten. We were looking for an excuse to stay. They sent me home with the usual advice about coming back in when my contractions get bad or if my water breaks.

Yeah, yeah. I know all that already.

They did put me on "modified" bed rest, which is lame, since that's what I've been doing for the last two weeks or so already.

Ryan's about ready to go crazy. He can't handle letting mother nature be in charge. He needs more science--he wants more control.

I go back for more monitoring on Friday.

This is so much fun.

I would have said something to you about the last 2 weeks if there had been something to say. I promise. All was quiet right up to the time I went into labor. But then I was in labor for over 12 hours with #1 that ended in C-section and over 72 hours with #2 that was a natural birth. All the pain was focused in a short period of time and pretty damb strong too. Being effaced and dilated is great. You're totally on your way. I know you are in painful discomfort, but your body is totally softening up. And that's what you need. I can hear you saying "whatever". I love you.
