Now that the waiting game is over and I know when I'm going to have this baby, I can focus on other things.
Like shoes.
Let me share one of my favorite things with you.
I've been wearing J.Crew flip-flops for years--many, many years. I started wearing them in high school when it was a VERY big deal for me to order from the J.Crew catalog and pay with my own money--the money I was making from my part-time job at the local tennis club. Of course, things were much cheaper back then and I think my favorite flip-flops cost somewhere around $8.50. They are &14.50 a pair now. What a rip-off. Anyway, each summer I'd order a few pairs of the classic J.Crew flip-flip and a few pairs of khaki shorts. I ONLY like the classic flip-flops, not the wedges or any of the other fancy rubber ones. I always get a black pair and sometimes a navy or brown pair.
After more than ten years of wearing them, I had my first issue last year. Or was it two years ago? I can't remember. BUT, it doesn't matter because J.Crew fixed the problem.
My last pair of black flip-flops left black marks on my feet. Every time I wore them I had an inverted "V" tattooed on the top of my foot. Each foot. If I had sunscreen or lotion on, it was worse. I couldn't just wipe the marks off either. I had to scrub my feet to get the ugly black off. I went through most of the summer like this, telling myself I'd call J.Crew and complain every time I wore them. I never did anything about it.
Until recently.
When I ordered my flip-flops for 2007, I called and told the customer service agent my concerns about my last pair. She gave me my new flip-flops for free! I thought it was great of them.
Other flip-flops don't compare--I've tried. They might be a few more dollars, but they are worth every penny. They don't sell the classic in stores anymore--they are only available online or through the catalog, fyi.
So, there's that. A lame post about my favorite pair of summer shoes.

I too have been a J.Crew flip flop fan since I began wearing flip flops. I can't wear the original ones though- the rubber straps give me serious blisters (where you get black marks I get blisters, things like sunscreen or sweat only increase the "blisterage"). I don't like the wedge ones either, but I love the ones that have fabric straps. Those are my go to flip flop each year.
I will have to give the J.Crew flip flops a try. I am still searching for that perfect pair so maybe you found it for me.
I hope you have a great weekend, getting ready for the baby!! How exciting! She is coming on an even day, just like you wanted. And your husband can miss work which it sounds like he needs a break from.
I will be thinking of you!!
I am also a JCrew flip flop girl. But, I'm with Heidi. The rubber straps rub me the wrong way. Not blisters, but red marks that hurt when dipped in water. You don't get that? I actually wore the white classics on my wedding day under my dress.
I was relieved when they came out with the fabric straps on the wedges, but then I married a man that is the same height as me and if I don't want to be taller on a certain day or outing, I go with Reefs. Have you tried Reef sandals?
They don't make the fabric straps on the classic ones do they?
REEF
Missy- they make flat ones that have fabric straps, but they are decorative- like grosgrain ribbon, leather, or embroidered straps. I love them and they are very comfy.
