Favorites...this week...

I don't know where I read about it, but I've discovered a new cleaning tactic that I'm in love with. First of all, those who know me well know that I HATE to clean. I do it, but my heart is not in it and I get really frustrated when I can't get things all the way clean--one of the pitfalls of apartment living, I guess.

Anyway, I recently read somewhere that you can use a moist dryer sheet to combat soap scum in the shower and bath. Um...it really works. I just got done cleaning my bathroom and I was AMAZED at how well it worked. I'm now obsessed with little household tricks like these. I'm sure there's a book of them somewhere out there--I need to find that book. Perhaps I can learn to appreciate cleaning if I had a little book of cool tricks.

What else?

I'm still pregnant. 34 weeks--almost 35. I'm almost finished! Hooray! I'm still not sleeping. I'm usually still up when Ryan's alarm goes off (4:30 am!) and so I hang out with him while he gets ready for the day and then I head off to bed when he leaves. It's really strange.

I'm about the following things lately...

1. Trader Joe's peanut butter cups
2. Crystal Light-raspberry lemonade
3. Past episodes of House--the best show on t.v.
4. Puffs tissues
5. Won Ton soup from our local chinese place
6. Bubble baths!

7
. The Emperor's Children
by Claire Messud
8. Cookies and Cream Promax bars
9. Slate.com
10. Tivo'd episodes of Oprah
11. Pink Lady apples--the best piece of fruit out there!
12. The weather in Las Vegas--wish it would migrate out west a bit.
13. Podcasts of NPR's Fresh Air--since I sleep through it lately.
14. Shoes that don't require me to bend over to put them on or tie them up.
15. Ryan--he's the best and he's very busy these days, so I love it when he's here!

That's all I can think of right now. These things pretty much ARE my life right now. If I could live my life from the bathtub, I think I might consider it. The best part of my day is when I soak my sore hips and bum in the tub--don't worry, it's not too hot.

Dr.'s appointment tomorrow--I wonder if there will be any new news.

Ben and I looove House too, such a great show. I also am a huge fan of Crystal Light raspberry lemonade. Great stuff.

Thanks for the dryer sheet tip!

The Method Shower Cleanser that you spray on your shower doors or tub is AWESOME at getting soap scum off. The Eucalyptus tile cleaner is so, so wonderful too. And they leave your bathroom smelling perfectly clean and spic and span w/o that bleach residue.

Update after your doctor. I'm so excited to hear how you are progressing.

My favorite line of the post, "If I could live my life from the bathtub, I think I might consider it."

And thanks for the PB cups at TJ's. I'm going there this afternoon.

lOk so your new love of household tricks I think is called "nesting".

You must try the magic eraser from Mr. Clean. I think it's Mr. Clean, any way the generic works just as well. I've got to tell you this little white block of foamy what not is truly magic. Just get it wet and wipe stuff. You don't have this problem yet but the little grimy finger marks on the walls (especially door jams) are gone without effort. It's great, but don't wipe to vigorously because it can take off paint and varnish (sorry great grandmother-in-law's antique table).

P.S. Pink Ladies rock!

I am Heidi's Sis in Law. I read your blog often but have yet to post. Thanks for the dryer sheet tips, I have some serious soap scum issues. There is a book by Jane Buckingham called the "Modern Girls Guide to Motherhood" she also has one called "Modern Girls Guide to Life". I read some reviews about the book on Amazon and many mothers said it was just a collection of old tips. I have flipped through the book and heard her speak and I think it is a fantastic book for a new mom who does not know all of the old tips. Just thought I would share.
