Before we were married...

This photo is a few years old--4 years to be exact! Ryan was living in Flagstaff, Arizona playing reporter man (his words for it, not mine) and I was plugging along at school and living off of student loans that are now haunting us.

We were just friends.

He flew in to Sacramento to surprise me for my birthday. Kellie blindfolded me halfway to the Oakland airport so I wouldn't know where we were headed. She had told me we were going into the city for some shopping. I was surprised alright and even more surprised when they told me we were going to a King's game in Oakland to see them pounce on Golden State (those were the days when the King's were good). Anyway, we took this picture after the game as we watched all the players walk to their fancy cars.

The strangest thing about this picture is the guy who is wearing the black sweatshirt just to the left of Ry. His sweatshirt says, "Stinson Beach 2001." That is where Ryan and I first officially met. Crazy.

Four years later we are married and expecting our first baby. Who knew?

Ryan's been working in the city for the last few days. I miss him when he's gone. Every once in a while he'll stay the night down there so he can get some sleep--especially if he has early morning meetings. I usually drive down and stay with him, but I didn't this time. Instead, I'm getting our taxes ready by inputting mounds and mounds of receipts and write-offs into Quickbooks. It's making me feel really grown-up.

Quickbooks and a baby = grown-up.

Turbo Tax too Jen. That makes you feel extremely grown up. Filing your own e-return? Very grown up. Just wait until you file next year and get a grand deduction for that baby you are carrying extra poundage for.

I love that picture. You guys look so happy.

We can't use Turbo Tax--we are too scared to use it with Ry's business. So, we have an accountant. That's REALLY grown-up. I still have to enter all the little stuff though. It's ok, it's gives me something to do.

I think we look so happy in that picture because we weren't grown-up yet. Life was so easy back then. Nothing to worry about but school and a cell phone bill. Good times.

I love that picture of you guys too. Such happiness. And, seriously, what are the odds of that guys sweatshirt?

Sometimes I like feeling grown-up...like when I've been really productive and things are in order. Other times, like when I look at old pictures, I wish I weren't such a responsible old mom these days.
