Some of my favorites right now are...

When I created this weblog, I did it with the intention of sharing some of my favorite reads and watches. Things I think you'll all like. First of all, if you don't have a Netflix or Blockbuster.com membership, you should. You're really doing yourself a disservice if you don't. My mom uses Blockbuster, but Ryan and I are total Netflix people, even if they do charge a few dollars more. The reason is simple: they have a better selection. They have tons of documentaries, foreign films, and educational stuff.

It's taken me a while but I've managed to plan it just right so that I usually have all 3 of my current selections over the weekend. The key is to mail them by Wednesday. Anyway, some of my recent favorites are: Maya Lin: A Strong Clear Vision, 1995. It tells the story of how the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial came to be and also highlights some of her other work. You know, she was only 20 when she won the VVM commission. You should also see OT: Our Town, 2002. It's a documentary and follows the crazy story of what happens when students at a Compton, CA high school attempt to put on the school's first play in over 20 years. It will amaze you.

I also recommend seeing Batman Begins--if you haven't yet. I really liked it and Christian Bale is hot, hot, hot.

Oh my gosh, I almost forgot. This has been getting a lot of press and it's all over a couple of the mommyblogs I read...UTAH IS THE CRAZIEST PLACE ON EARTH. I know what's happening right now...my mom has linked to the website and is freaking out trying to figure out how she is going to get Brianne or Shannon to meet him. Admit it mom, you are totally doing that.

Back to those mommyblogs...Yes, I read them. Actually, I was inspired to start my own blog after having spent several, several hours reading other people's blogs. My favorite is dooce.com. I'm not including the link, because the site is PG-13 and sometimes R due to language. But, I still recommend it. She just uses a few bad words once in a while, geez. Otherwise, they are sites entirely devoted to their mommy lives. Dooce is a former BYU student and a former mormon (she never bashes the mormons...her family means to much to her) who is a VERY good writer and pretty funny. She is also married to a very talented computer guy who helps her trick her website out. She's been mentioned in the NY Times and she's famous in blogland. She lives in SLC. She is my blog mentor, but she doesn't know it. I'm too nervous to email her and tell her. Maybe one day. If you want to visit her site, type dooce.com in your address bar.

I know my posts are boring without pictures, but I don't have a dig camera right now. Which reminds me...in Utah, they also cut all of their words down... like for boyfriend they say, " boyf," and if someone isn't capable, they aren't "cape." I think that's funny--Utah has it's own dialect. They really should be their own country. But, yeah, I don't have a camera and it's really bringing my blog down. I need photos in a bad way. I really want this camera, but Ryan says,

"it's too much and you're not a freakin' professional photographer, already."

"Why do you have to crush my dreams and discredit my ambitions?"

"Why do you have to get a $900 camera when you can go to Costco and get a perfectly good camera for $250?"

"Because the other one is better... and the nikon one is so cool and all the cool bloggers have one..."
