(We promised her the merry-go-round after the Dr.)
Ryan and I held our ground with the doctor, insisting that there must be something more we can do--because the current plan (Albuterol) isn't working. So, after a thorough examination, Lilly has been diagnosed asthmatic (duh). Oh, and she has an ear infection.
Here's the new plan...
*Amoxicillin twice a day for 10 days to clear up the ear infection.
*Prednisolone twice a day for 5 days. An aggressive steroid to clear up inflammation of lungs.
*Ventolin Inhaler to keep in the car for emergencies.
*Optichamber to use with said inhaler.
*Pulmicort nebulizer treatments twice a day, EVERYDAY. This is her new preventative med. She breathes this in twice a day whether she's sick or not--it'll keep her lungs at an even pace. Did I mention she does this one TWICE, EVERYDAY...
*Albuterol treatments as needed every 4 hours.
I don't mind the nebulizer treatments--she's used to them. It's the liquid meds that pose a major issue. She refused to swallow them and so things get a little dramatic come dispensing time. I'm bugged that we have to do the antibiotic for 10 days! Do they even know what I have to go through to get it down? Obviously not.
My heart just breaks for her...she's the sweetest thing and you wouldn't know it from the picture above that she's been suffering for weeks now.
But I think she's on her way to healthier lungs!

Ave used to fight meds too. Tylenol was a fight which was bad when she had a high fever one night. Then Devin told her it was Mickey medicine and she gulped it right down. We've never had a problem since. So weird. Worth a shot with lil though. Say you got it from d-land.
That pic is to die for though. Blow that one up.
Poor Lill though! I am so sad for her.
Love the photo. So does look so happy.
I think she & my nephew have matching lungs. He was a preemie & has always had lung issues & is always, always sick. My sister has to do a similar routine (with the nebulizer twice a day). I guess it's just a part of their routine now... & a few minutes of quiet for her once he learned to actually sit still. Good luck.
Okay all those treatments- that is rough! I really hope she will come out of this on top.
Hang in there Jen. Way to stand your ground with the doctor. We really, really struggle with the meds, too. That pink stuff kind of tastes good if I remember correctly. Once she realizes it is going to happen every day, she'll settle down when it is med time. Probably by day 4.
She really is the sweetest girl in the world. Glad her lungs are on their way back. You're a great mom!
Nana is on the way today!
Sorry about your little one always being sick...I hope she feels better soon. Just wanted to let you know I read your posts every now and then and I love your perspective on life! Your post about more children made me laugh!
That picture is to die for! Good luck with the treatments.
What a process! I'm glad she's on her way to breathing better now.
